Cuero runner wins Yoakum meet

CommentCuero's Buster Hansel started off the 2010 cross country season the way everyone would expect, with a first-place finish at the Yoakum Cross Country meet.
Hansel finished with a time of 7:55, 40 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, Hallettsville's Clayton O'Neill. Hansel's teammate, John Evans, finished third, while Yoakum's Berto Aleman finished fourth.
Other local top-10 finishers for the boys were Nixon-Smiley's Balti Tovar (8th) and Hallettsville's Logan Harrington (9th).
For the girls, Poth's Justine Quintanilla finished in first place with a time of 9:57.
Yoakum's Brittany Rosas finished in second with a time of 10:15.
Robin Garcez of Karnes City and Parker Jansen of Yoakum finished third and fourth, respectively.
Other local top-10 finishers included: Yoakum's Courtney Carroll (7th), Hallettsville's Shelby Bozka (8th), Nixon-Smiley's Balti Tovar (9th) and Yoakum's Harley Bruan (10th).
