Industrial's Strauss finishes second at Palacios meet

PALACIOS -- Industrial's Katlyn Strauss finished second in the girls division at the Palacios Cross Country Meet on Saturday at the Palacios Marine Center.

Strauss had a time of 9 minutes and 40 seconds on the 2,400-meter course. Taylor Wilson of Calhoun was fourth in a time of 9:59.

East Bernard had five runners finish in the top 10, including Katelyn Walters, who was third in a time of 9:53, to run away with the team title with 36 points. Calhoun was third with 115 points.

Jazelyn Lentz was the top finisher for Victoria East, placing 35th in a time of 10:48. Victoria West's Mallory Draper (11:01) finished 39th, and St. Joseph's Kristen Sonthemier (11:35) was 49th.

Victoria West's Todd Mickey finished sixth in the boys division. Mickey had a time of 12:46 on the 3,600-meter course.

Calhoun's Christian Perez was eighth in a time of 13:05 to help the Sandcrabs finish second in the team standings with 67 points.

Houston St. Thomas won the boys division with 50 points.

Juan Camargo led Victoria East by finishing 27th in a time of 14:01. St. Joseph's Jonathan Hernandez placed 50th in a time of 15:14.
