Shiner St. Paul wins high-scoring squeaker

GEORGETOWN - Shiner St. Paul and Garland Christian Swords each had more than 600 yards of offense in a high-scoring TAPPS D-IV Regional playoff game.
Brett Hodges was the go-to man for Shiner, scoring five touchdowns, his longest on a 35-yard run. Quarterback Dakota Kresta provided three scores for the Cardinals, two on runs and another on a 22-yard pass to Cole Hybner.
St. Paul also had touchdowns from Martin Kennedy, who scored on a 46-yard run; Adam Hollenbach, who had a 49-yard scoring run; and Justin Natal.
The Cardinals had three players who rushed for at least 100 yards, with Hodges garnering 107, Kennedy 102 and Kresta 100. Kresta also had 232 yards passing, completing 11 of his 18 passes with only one interception. Hollenbach was the top receiver with 105 yards on three receptions.
Garland quarterback Hayden Burnett scored seven touchdowns, running for four and passing for three. He threw for 434 yards, hitting 18 of 36 with four interceptions.
