PORTLAND - After the first day of the District 30-4A Boys and Girls Tournament, Victoria East, Victoria West and host Gregory-Portland have placed themselves atop the leaderboards.
The three schools are in the Top 3 in both the boys and girls team standings after one round at Northshore Country Club.
The West shot an opening round 340 to take a sold 16-stroke lead on G-P while the Titans shot a team score of 398.
The East girls shot a team score of 384 and have a commanding 34-stroke lead over West. G-P is four strokes behind West with a 422.
The Top 3 boys individual round came from West as Trent Lee shot an 82, Remey Shelton shot an 84 and Trevor Vega shot an 85.
Josh Moya's round of 93 led the Titans.
West's Meagan Neuman had the best girls individual round with a 92. East's Tessa Lev is one stroke behind while teammates Brianna Reyes and Lindsay Crab are tied for third with matching rounds of 95.
The top two teams advance to the regional tournament. The top two individuals not on qualifying teams advance to the regional tournament as medalists.
The Class 4A, Region IV Tournament will be played at the Golf Club of Texas San Antonio. The girls begin play on Apr. 16 while the boys begin play Apr. 18.
