SAN ANTONIO - Victoria East's Briana Reyes shot the lowest score of the 10 Victoria golfers who participated at the Region IV-4A championship Monday.
The senior shot a 10-over part 82 to lead the Titans into sole possession of fifth after 18 holes. Overall, East shot a 342 at the Golf Club of Texas. Lindsey Crabb is in a tie for 26th after shooting an 84.
East's Jackie Gonzales is tied with Victoria West senior Meagan Neuman in 30th with a 13-over-par 85. Neuman had the Warriors lowest score Monday.
Victoria West was in 10th with a team score of 374. Morgan Park shot an 87, while her teammate Kayla Bowland shot a 97 for the Warriors.
The top two teams and top two individuals not on those teams qualify for the Class 4A state tournament. Smithson Valley (305) and Lake Travis (312) have segregated themselves from the rest of the field, as they are 24 and 17 shots ahead of Cedar Park and Corpus Christi Moody in third.
Lindsey McCurdy from Buda Hays was the only girl to shoot below par Monday.
Shiner's Pohler halfway home to regional title
BRENHAM - Shiner senior Matt Pohler shot a 75 to lead the Region IV-1A golf tournament after 18 holes.
He is six shots ahead of Taylor Donowho and Flatonia's Zane Ponder after Monday's play at the Brenham Country Club. Flatonia leads the team standings with a 348, seven strokes ahead of Milano. Moulton is in fourth with a 369 team score.
Should the Bulldogs maintain their lead, Ponder would qualify for next month's state tournament - and potentially open up a spot for Pohler, if he falls out the top two positions.
Runge's Levis Lewis is fifth with a 13-over-par 84 and Woodsboro's Tyler Blaschke is one stroke and one place behind Lewis.
Region IV-3A tournament rained out
CORPUS CHRISTI - Due to heavy rains, the first day of the Region IV-3A tournament was called off. The championship will be determined in an 18-hole shootout Tuesday.
