Former University of Houston-Victoria pitcher Tanner Hamilton has signed with the Washington Wild Things of the independent Frontier League.
Hamilton had a 4-4 record for the Jaguars last season and signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks as an undrafted free agent. He was assigned to their franchise's Rookie League team.
He pitched 23 innings and went 1-0 with one save and had 32 strikeouts in 23 innings.
Hamilton pitched for the Regina Red Sox of the Western Major Baseball League before signing with the Diamondbacks.
He had 1-1 record with a 2.07 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 13 innings.
The Wild Things will open the season on May 17.
"We look forward to seeing Tanner in camp this May and believe that he will compete for a spot as a reliever on our staff," said Wild Things assistant general manager Steve Zavacky.
