UHV releases 2012 soccer schedules

The University of Houston-Victoria announced its soccer schedule for the 2012 season Tuesday.

Both the Jaguar men's and women's teams will have six home dates. Adrian Rigby's men's team starts its season against St. Edward's on Aug. 20, while the women's team will face Oklahoma Wesleyan in its home opener Aug. 25.

The women will also host Schreiner, Southwest Assembly of God, Lubbock Christian and NAIA ranked Oklahoma City this year. A year ago, the Jaguar women were 5-10-1, but 3-3-1 at home.

The men's team was far more dominant at home, finishing with an 8-0-1 mark in Victoria last fall, which included eight shutouts. Four of those victories were later forfeited after the program inadvertently fielded an ineligible player.

This year the men will host Oklahoma Wesleyan, St. Gregory's, and Our Lady of the Lake as part of their home schedule.
