Last week's Major League Baseball draft has forced the Victoria Generals to make some roster changes.
Louisiana-Lafayette pitcher Jordan Harrison and St. Mary's catcher M.P. Cokinos were selected and have decided to forego their senior season in college and turn professional.
Florida International third baseman Rudy Flores was also drafted, but has yet to make a decision and is still with the team.
The Generals have also been missing players because of injuries.
Opening-day pitcher Austin Pfeiffer left the game with a shoulder injury and will most likely miss the rest of the Texas Collegiate League season.
Pitchers Justin Cromartie and Ross Goebel are also recovering from injuries and unlikely to play this summer.
In addition, Generals infielders Hayden Vesely and Blake Marchal are injured and are being held out of action.
As a result, the Generals have added right-handed pitchers Dillon Newman and Kyle Chaskin and infielder Brandon Tierny to their roster, according to general manager Blake Koch.
Newman recently completed his sophomore season at Baylor. He had a 4-4 record with a 2.40 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 45 innings.
Chaskin will work out of the bullpen after helping to lead San Jacinto College to the championship game of the Junior College World Series as a sophomore.
Chaskin had a 4-1 record with three saves and 1.35 ERA. He had 20 strikeouts in 20 innings.
Tierny completed his sophomore season at Iowa Western Community College and plans to transfer to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the fall.
He hit .420 with two home runs, two triples, 11 doubles and 57 RBIs.
The three players are expected to join the Generals by the end of the week.
The Generals return to Riverside Stadium on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to take on the East Texas Pump Jacks.
The Generals will offer $1 draft beer on the party deck to make up for the rainout of last Thursday's game. It will also be a Margarita Wednesday. Margaritas will be $3 for the entire game.
