    Morrow, Green combine to get shutout for Generals



    YOUNGVILLE, La. - Covey Morrow and Tanner Green combined to help the Victoria Generals get a road shutout of the Acadiana Cane Cutters 4-0 on Saturday.

    Morrow went seven inning, striking out six batters and holding the Cane Cutters to four hits. Green relieved Morrow in the seventh and struck out a batter in two perfect innings.

    The win helps the Generals improve to 11-7. Victoria is currently in third place in the Texas Collegiate League, 4 and 1/2 games behind league leader East Texas and 1 and 1/2 games behind Brazos Valley for second place.

    The win improves Morrow's record to 3-1.

    Catcher Eric Weiss led the Generals offensively, with a pair of RBIs. Weiss went 1 for 4.

    Left fielder Chad Kruse and No. 9 hitter Carter Mangum also had RBIs for the Generals.

    Victoria took control of the game with a four-run top of the third inning.

    The Generals wrap up a two-game series with Acadiana on Sunday at 7:05 p.m.

    The team returns to Riverside Stadium on Monday to open a three-game series against Brazos Valley on Monday.

    The Generals host the Bombers on Monday before heading to Brazos Valley for games Tuesday and Thursday.
