Victoria College baseball will be taking a big step next season.
The VC Pirates men's baseball team is moving up to Division I of the National Club Baseball Association.
The team, which participated last season in Division II, is making this very quick jump because of its success last season and its commitment to grow the program.
Division I teams compete for the chance to play in regional tournaments at the end of the season with other regional winners and could result in making the Pirates eligible to move on to compete in the Division I World Series.
VC's coaching staff believes this is a great opportunity for local baseball athletes.
The Pirates will have their first tryouts for next season on July 7 at VISD's special events baseball field on Airline Road.
Pitchers and catchers report at 10 a.m. and infielders and outfielders at 2 p.m. Tryout fee is $10.
