Jarrell edges Schulenburg in Game 1

AUSTIN - Clayton Kovar led off bottom of sixth with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Landon Ledbetter to lead Jarrell to a 1-0 win over Schulenburg in Game 1 of their best-of-three Class 2A regional quarterfinal series on Thursday night at Nelson Field.

Ross Bludau pitched a five-hitter for the Shorthorns (18-10), who will try to even the series on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Nelson Field.

Game 3, if necessary, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Nelson Field.

Logan Lebeda had two of Schulenburg's five hits.
