    BOWLING: Dickinson hammers pins for high series



    Steve Dickinson hammered the pins for a great 278 middle game during Sundowner League play, which helped propel him to the weekly high series honors.

    He started competition with a 225 game and ended with a 248 to complete the three games without an open frame and a 751 total.

    Shawn Miller, competing in the same league, also broke the 700 mark with a 259 high game helping him towards a 706 series.

    Other scores of note for the men were Justin Tweedle (247-683), Dave Matthews (680/647), T.J. Mooney (680), Gary Hatter Jr. (266-678), Ben Mooney (258-662), Mike Wortham (662), DoLee Knowlan 259-660), Michael Rodriguez (269-660), Sterling Kocian (651), Scott Snow (649/258), John Martinez (256), Travis Dollins (255), Jeremy Bateman (254), David Loya (253), and Todd Pfuhl (251).

    Lynda Mikulec also took advantage of a big game to claim the women's high score for the week.

    Mikulec saved the best for last when she rolled games of 187, 182, and 255 for a 624 set during Sugar & Spice League play.

    Olivia Jackson posted the second high score with a 224-612 in the same league.

    Other nice scores for the ladies were Erin Faltysek (592), Rebekah Martinez (592), Cecilia Woilson (584), Christine Speer (581), Lori Heil (235), and Trudy Wortham (232).

    Vera Cruz Restaurant bowlers for the week were Steve Dickinson 751 and Cecilia Wilson 728 both from the Sundowner League.

    Thank you, thank you, to league bowlers who participated in the 50/50 raffle held last week during regular league play.

    A total of $1,306 was raised for the BVL (Bowlers to Veterans Link), which will help fund programs to help our military veterans.

    The PBA Tour's 2012-13 TV schedule has been released with 16 consecutive Sundays of TV viewing on ESPN.

    The first broadcast will be on Sunday Dec. 9 at noon with the Bayer Advanced Aspirin World Bowling Tour finals for the men and women, which will be shown from Las Vegas.
