KINGSVILLE - Woodsboro shut out Bruni in the second half and rallied for a 36-21 Class 1A, Division II area playoff win over Bruni on Friday at Javelina Stadium.
Quarterback Tyler Quesada threw for two touchdowns and ran for two as the Eagles improved to 10-2 and advanced to the regional round against Falls City, a 33-0 winner over Sabinal.
The regional game is scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Floresville.
Bruni (9-2) led 21-14 at halftime, but Woodsboro scored one touchdown in the third quarter and two in the fourth quarter
The Badgers lost three quarterbacks in the game.
Woodsboro took the lead for good on a 79-yard run by Andy Villarreal in the fourth quarter and added a 1-yard touchdown run by Quesada to go along with a two-point conversion pass from Lionel Brown to Jacob Nesloney and a two-point conversion run by DeBray Bonner.
Bruni jumped on top 14-0 on a 44-yard run by David Carrizales and a 10-yard run by Julio Cruz.
Woodsboro cut the lead in half on a 6-yard pass from Quesada to Jared Martinez and the extra point by Conner Payne.
Bruni extended the lead on a 5-yard run by Cruz before Quesada threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Bonner.
Woodsboro pulled within a point on a 52-yard run by Quesada.
