After posting their best-ever tournament scoring at the season-opening Texas Lutheran Fall Classic, the University of Houston-Victoria women's golf team received immediate attention.
The Jaguars are ranked No. 17 in the latest Golfstat Head-To-Head NAIA standings released Thursday.
Only two Association of Independent Institutions Conference teams were ahead of them, Cal State-San Marcos at No. 2 and Victoria-British Columbia at No. 6.
UHV freshman Brooke Brasseaux and sophomore Becky Benchot were also recognized among the top-50 in scoring average.
Brasseaux posted a pair of 77s to tie for fifth at the TLU event and is tied for 29th in the rankings with a 77.0 scoring average. Benchot posted rounds of 77-80 and was tied for 47th in scoring with a 78.50 average.
SCAD-Savannah currently holds the top spot in the head-to-head team rankings.
Six of the top 10 teams are expected to be in Victoria for the UHV Claud Jacobs Invitational in February.
