LUBBOCK - Texas A&M-Kingsville's C.J. Griggs captured the men's triple jump championship at the Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Griggs, a Van Vleck graduate, had a winning leap of 14.74 meters (48 feet, 4.4 inches).
Griggs also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 7.09 meters (23-3) and seventh in the 55-meter dash in a time of 6.52 seconds to help the A&M-Kingsville men place second behind Abilene Christian in the conference's first-ever indoor championship.
Memorial graduate Samantha Alvarez placed second in the high jump and pole vault for the Javelinas.
Alvarez cleared 1.71 meters (5-7.3) in the high jump and 3.15 meters (10-4) in the pole vault.
Texas A&M-Kingsville's Amber Perry, a Goliad graduate, finished third in the women's 400-meter run in a time of 56.98.
Robert Armstrong, a Cuero graduate who also plays football for A&M-Kingsville, placed sixth in the long jump and high jump.
Armstrong had a leap of 6.82 meters (22-4.5) in the long jump and cleared 1.88 meters (6-2) in the high jump.
Goliad graduate Brianna Bartosch placed sixth in the 55-meter hurdles for the Javelinas in a personal-best time of 8.41.
