• Played baseball at Hardin-Simmons University from 2005-07
• 2007-09: Graduate Assistant Baseball Coach, Hardin-Simmons University

After five seasons with the Victoria Generals, GM Blake Koch will step down at the end of the season.
Koch, 29, who is in his fourth year as GM with the Generals, explained he will leave the team because his wife, Lindsey, will take a job at SMU as the director of new student orientation and student support.
Blake Koch wanted to emphasize that he will not leave the team right away, explaining that he will work with team president and owner, Tracy Young, to prepare a smooth transition for the next general manager.
"I will be around during the season and through the off-season," he said. "I'm confident the Generals will have a bright future for the next several years."
Koch joined the Generals organization in 2009 as an assistant coach in their first year, with a 32-16 record that year. The team won a league championship in 2010, his first year as general manager.
"The Generals have been an amazing experience for Blake," said Lindsey, who has worked at UHV as director of student life for three years. "We thought about this carefully. We really have been appreciative of the Victoria community."
Blake Koch, who has family in the Dallas area, said he will look into working in an athletic department, but no plans are imminent.
While the decision to leave the Generals was a hard decision, Koch knew it was the right one.
"This was the right timeline for me," he said. "We both are very blessed. We got to meet a lot of people. We knew we wouldn't be here forever."
Blake Koch played baseball at McLennan Community College and Hardin-Simmon.
After graduating, he served as a graduate assistant for the baseball team.
Koch said he is confident the team will be successful after he leaves.
"The Generals will be alive and well," he said. "The future of the Generals is very bright."
