    Victoria West boys qualify for playoffs



    CORPUS CHRISTI - Victoria West clinched a playoff berth for the third straight season with a 3-1 victory over Corpus Christi Miller on Monday night.

    Hector Mendoza, Ernesto Perez and Edward Rodriguez scored for the Warriors. Mendoza and Rodriguez also added assists for West (16-2-2, 7-1-1).

    West remains atop District 59-4A with the win. Should Rockport-Fulton beat Victoria East on Tuesday night at Memorial Stadium, the Warriors and Pirates will be tied with 15 points in district play.

    Entering Monday's match, West and Rockport-Fulton (6-2-1) had 13 points and Gregory-Portland (5-2-2) was third with 12. Corpus Christi Moody (5-3-1) occupied the final playoff berth with 11 points.

    CORPUS CHRISTI - Victoria West evened its record on the season with a 5-0 win over Corpus Christi Miller on Monday night. Sarah Warner, Daniela Herrera and Shelby Swoboda scored goals while sophomore Anhila Rocha scored twice. West (8-8-2 overall) improved to 3-4-2 in District 59-4A play.
