SAN MARCOS - The 50th running of the Texas Water Safari started Saturday morning at the San Marcos Aquarena and will make its way through Victoria beginning Sunday morning and throughout the day.
The race is seeing its highest participation ever, as 141 boats will try to break the record set in 1997 or a little over 24 hours from San Marcos to Seadrift. New this year, fans and curious folks can track the progress of each boat as it makes its way down the San Marcos and Guadalupe rivers, by going online to TexasWaterSafari.org. The last boats should reach Seadrift on Tuesday afternoon.
