I no longer live in Victoria so I do not have my ear to the ground on the reasons this coach may have been chosen. Does not proven success play into hiring? From his record it doesn't appear he was heading the former program into a winning tradition. Why would it be a different story in Victoria? Is it truly the good ole boy network playing the same song here?
Dont you get it. East and West began with two white Head Coaches. One retired.Time for a Hispanic or African American coach. This time A Hispanic coach prevailed. The guys that do the hiring would have to answer a lot of Questions if They wernt given extra consideration. Some of you and the Advocate will say that im trying to make this a race thing. Im not. Im just saying this is the way it works.

Escalona has to live with the decision. I hope he was right. If not, the board needs to get rid of him. This whole decision, on the surface, smells really bad! What were they thinking?
Wow, definately the buddy system here. Not by previous success. It's like, "hey bud, you need a job? Sure, but I don't know how to win.... Who cares, come on down."
