Friday night lights recap: East takes control of district

Well, it certainly appears Victoria East is for real. I know, Titans fans, you've been believers for some time. I've been kind of been sitting on the fence, though.
East is good, but the Titans do have their problems. They commit sometimes silly penalties that halt drives and their intensity can disappear for large chunks of time (like the entire third quarter in the game against GP).
But, they are dynamic on offense, sometimes appearing unstoppable. They have a ballhawking mentality on defense, and they have solid special teams play.
As the season progresses, and they enter postseason play, they're going to have to be solid in all areas of play, overcoming their mistakes and keeping their intensity.
No matter what happens, though, East is a fun team to watch and has given Victoria something to cheer for in prep football in who knows how many years.

i do agree with you about the lack to stay focus the whole game but i will say this i dont know of a deeper team in reg iv. i just cant see how pl and gp win with just run run run dont get me wrong gp did try to pass in the second half and they have pass on other teams to win you have to be balance thats what gets you deep in the playoffs

I AGREE WITH U ABOUT D CALLS I MEAN THE ONE THEY CALL WARREN FOR LOOKING BACK I JUST WATCH D RUN ON REPLAY AND ALL D KID DID WAS LOOK BACK HE DIDNT SAY ANYTHING IF HE DID IT WAS TO HIMSELF U CALL IT A DEAD BALL FOUL HOW IT WAS DURING D PLAY BEFORE EVERY GAME I HOPE THEY DONT SAY THR REFS ARE FROM CC THEY COST US ONE GAME AND THEY KEPT GP N D GAME BUT OUR KIDS WILL KEEP FIGHTING

Corpus Refs are notoriusly BAD! I'm not sure that they even have rule books to train by...all they need is a hanky and a whistle. It is crazy and needs to be addressed.

what the heck are you supposed to do about refs,plc game in rkport was horrible for refs.are these guys even evaluated before the season.plc vs. west the headlinesman had to be over 300 pounds, he was always late to mark the ball for both teams. apparently there is no physical they have to pass,as do the players.i tell you right now they hate vic teams with a passion,just wrong. better refs do seem more abundant in poffs,we will see i hope that both vic teams have better luck with refs in poffs because it looks like both will be in. you guys stay healthy,plc has lost 2 starters to knee injuries already,both need surgery to repair.on another note how about that west vball team,just destroying everyone,way to go girls!

During the West/PLC game, the West QB was scrambling and threw a pass after he had passed over the line of scrimmage drawing a flag. The PLC player that was in pursuit then hit the West QB drawing a flag as well. The calls were, illegal forward pass on the offense and personal foul, roughing the passer on defense. How exactly is this possible? After the West player crossed over the LOS, he became a runner and no longer a passer. The hit was not late or out of bounds or to the head or anything.

On a funny side note:
That linesman Waddie666 describes was @ the West--BayCity game. He is totally unable to referee a High School game, needs to stay with the 7th graders but the funny story is.
He got rolled up on and wasted right on the home sideline. Laying on the ground like a beached whale, just as my son in law shouts " Roll him off the field" everyone else get real quite. Was as loud as a fart in church.
Agree the game officials have been really bad this year. It's just not the Corpus Christi group, the San Antonion bunchs have been as bad.

how funny sniper,yet the guy will be out refing this week, hope west doesnt get him at home this week. didnt understand that 2 penalty call either because if the qb goes over los he is a runner right? but the whale was to far behind to see that,wait he is at los,he should be at peewee level maybe he can keep up with them,my money is on the peewee fellas.fart in a church: classic

That same guy was right in front of the onside--pooch kick deal before half time.
The west guys tried to call a fair catch & got caught up in the pile. Ball hit ground & Port Lavaca got the ball.
I am not sure about fair catches on kickoff but you can be sure that he does not know it either.

i dont know what it is but i hope for d sake of west that they dont get the cc refs dis week its going to b bad as it is been they cant stop a bad cold if d west had d def that is on d east man they would b underfeated but o well i just cant see why east keeps agreeing to d cc refs i guess u have to pick them from d cc chapter they really suck but a old coach once told me u take control of d game and theres nothing a ref can do so there for go Titans

On the first onside kick I did not see a fair catch signal from the West player. It all happened right in front of me. I even turned to my friend and asked why he didn't call a fair catch. We blamed it on coaching and thought maybe the player just didn't know.
On the second onside kick, he did call a fair catch.
You can call a fair catch if the ball does not hit the ground.

Maxprep IS the comparison of data. where have you been? where else would you get your data from Sportprep? lol Look Easts first year and were gonna go undefeated in District... Everything else is puro papas, know what I mean jelly bean? lol you better hope GP has a good game against Beeville.
Ill tell YOU like I tell the other nay-sayers from CC. I't really doesn't matter what the schools history is, Its what they are now. hell we don't have a history but we still won district against some pretty good teams but its not that we beat those teams, its how we beat those teams, we beat them like a championship team would beat those teams.
East hasn't really shined yet, but only because, "the other school" as we are called, are proving the higher ups and the good ole boys wrong. and they don't like that. like a smart man told me once... "You can only poke the bear so many times..." We wont be denied. they aren't playing for you or anyone else, they're playing for their school their families and each other. They know they aren't the favorites ever since the east/west-stroman/vhs references. A blind man could see that.

I use MaxPrep on all my picks and have only lost one this year so im thinking its all how you look at and use the info given.

I don't use Maxpreps for stats...I use Maxpreps just for schedules and to see who won or lost. They have every teams schedule and the score. I really don't know where I would get accurate information online for stats....I looked up stats for the East-East Central game online and had like 3 different sets of stats...I don't know which is right LOL

IMO MaxPrep is the most accurate of the online stat engines.I didn't say it was perfect but its the most accurate.
