Friday should be a good one.

As we plan for football coverage every week, we look at all the area games to find out which ones we want to include. We have three Advocate reporters who go out every Friday, plus whatever stringers we can get.

When we looked at Sept. 17 on the calendar, there was no hesitation in which three games we should cover.

• Victoria West has their homecoming against Bay City.

• St. Joseph plays their home opener against Taft.

• And maybe the most exciting of all, Calhoun hosts Cuero for the Sandcrabs homecoming.

All three should create buzz with fans, and I'm excited to see how each team responds.

And there are plenty more great area games that just missed the cut this week (including nearby Edna vs. Yoakum), that we'll be keeping our eye on.

There's no quiet Friday in the fall, but this one should be especially good.
