Although she finished in 46th place at the UIL Cross Country State Championships, the hard work still paid off for Victoria East senior Leesa Morales.
After battling a femur injury and knee tendonitis her freshman and sophomore years and not running her junior year Morales became the first Titan to qualify for the state meet.
“I kind of wish it went a little better, but the fact that I got here after so much obstacles of getting here makes it a bitter sweet deal,” Morales said after posting a time of 12:13.83.
Morales admitted her nerves got the best of her on the big stage, but despite it all she gave it her best shot during the final meet of her high school career.
“It was definitely a good experience for me,” Morales said. “I did have a lot of fun today and I did enjoy running here today.”
