West powerlifting finishes first

The Victoria West powerlifting team started the season off in a winning note with a first place finish at the Goliad meet on Saturday. Eighteen schools, including Victoria East, competed in the meet. Floresville finished second and only the Top 2 teams were announced. Martin Armenta and Matt Hartman finished first in the 148 and 198-pound divisions. Armenta had a total weight of 1,110 pounds while Hartman had a total lift of 1,325 pounds. Morgan Moses finish first in the 114-pound division with a total lift of 500 pounds. Marcus Hernandez had a second place finish in the 123-pound division while Macrus Crespin finished fifth in that division. Qualian Bryan and Tony Navarro had third place finishes at in the 148 and 132-pound divisions. Joe Alvarado finished fourth in the 148-pound division.
The Warriors next compete in the Yorktown meet on Feb. 4.
